WHY THE NEED FOR CAREGIVER TRAINING?
The number of older adults who need caregiving will more than double over the next few decades as America's population ages. Aging baby boomers comprise both the largest and the longest-lived group of older persons in human history; they will live 20 to 30 years longer than the previous generations, with more chronic diseases than any preceding generation.
Concurrently, due to changing social dynamics, there will be a shrinking number of family members or paid caregivers available to care for them.
WHY IS OUR JOB SO IMPORTANT........?
The caregiver's job is one of profound importance on a daily basis. We are taking care of very special people with very special needs. Therefore we need to be learn and conduct ourselves in a way that we can be trusted. Since there is a variety of care giving involved in most families, the knowledge of this care has to be intensely studied , as we are expected to care for someone's father, mother or child, that have illnesses beyond the normal healthy young individual.
The purpose of our training is to provide caregivers with the basic tools and skills to be prepared to perform the duties of a caregiver on the first day on the job. There are so many other facets to the job that will come with experience and exposure to different situations. But you must know what is expected of and from you on day 1 when you start performing duties for your first client.
