Q : WHO ARE CAREGIVERS?A : Caregivers can be : Nurses, Doctors, CNA's, Companions, Family Members, Neighbors, Sitters etc.
Q: WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A CAREGIVER IN A SENIOR COMMUNITY?
.A: It will depend on what services you are willing to provide for your client/patient. If you are in business for yourself , you will have to produce a contract with all your services that you are willing to provide for your client/patient. If you are being employed by a Retirement Community, you will perform the services they provide and you usually work with a set up schedule sheet they will print for you on a daily basis.
Q: HOW MANY HOURS WILL CAREGIVERS WORK?
A: Caregivers usually work around the clock, anywhere from 3-24 hour shifts. It will be up to you to work as little or as much as you please.
Q: WHAT CAN BE MY MONTHLY INCOME?
A: Your monthly income will vary if you are employed for yourself, or employed by a Senior Community . It is almost nicer to be in business for yourself, since you can make your own hours and can work for someone else at any time. You have the flexibility to choose your clients and if the client/caregiver relationship doesn't work out , you can ask to be removed from the case at anytime, versus when you are employed your chances of staying with the same client are very high. Your potential income will greatly depend on your educational background and past job experiences. Previous experiences and an excellent reputation, will be essential and of great importance to become a successful caregiver in the elderly communities.
Q: WHAT IS IT A" PROFESSIONAL CAREGIVER" DOES NOT DO?
A: This is a question that is confused or misunderstood by many families that need our service. Well, let me start here; first and foremost, WE are not a cleaning service, WE provide service for the client/patient only, WE do not service family members privately, WE do not look into medical records or medical history of our clients/patients, WE do not get involved in private family matters, no matter how good the relationship is between the caregiver and the family members etc.
Q: WHAT DOES A CAREGIVER DO?
A: What WE do is the following; WE provide stability to the Senior Community, WE service the Senior Community at all times with the greatest respect . Most of all WE are proud of ourselves and proud of the job WE do on a daily basis. Our job is honorable, difficult and full of pride. WE provide light housekeeping and meal preparation for our clients.
We maintain a daily log of all pertinent client activity to share with team members and family. We provide security and stable responsibility to our clients, close or far. Our responsibility lays within the sole respect and confidentiality of our clients/patients needs at all times.
